Ohn Scoggins erased a four-stroke deficit to win the 2026 Barbasol Open at Austin, going 10-under through the final round at Harvey Pennick Disc Golf Course to take the solo lead with one hole to play — the first time she had led the tournament outright all week.

Scoggins — the reigning world champion and five-time masters champion — came into Championship Sunday trailing Silva Saarinen, who had held the lead for two rounds straight heading into the final. But Scoggins went seven-under through the front nine alone, forcing a share of the top spot for the first time all tournament, then kept the pressure on through a grinding, humid back nine to pull away.

Saarinen entered the final round leading the field in park percentage and circle one in regulation percentage, and ranking second in circle one putting percentage. The broadcast team — Erika Stinchcomb and Madison Walker — noted those numbers are hard to fight against. Scoggins found a way regardless.

Valerie Mandujano and Kat Mertsch — the 2020 rookie of the year — rounded out the final-round lead card. Mertsch made her own push over the back nine to stay within reach. On the chase card, Ella Hansen moved up through the closing holes to separate from the pack behind the leaders.

Three players on the final lead card had posted eight-under rounds at some point during the week.

Missy Gannon held the outright lead through the front nine of round one at Sprinkle Valley, with Paige Pierce sitting three-under on the same card. Neither carried that position into the final weekend.

The Format

The tournament ran four rounds across two Austin courses. Sprinkle Valley — set at the Austin Beer Works Brewery — hosted rounds one and two. Harvey Pennick took over for moving day and Championship Sunday.

Stinchcomb and Walker praised Sprinkle Valley’s 2026 redesign as among the best versions of the course they had seen. Changes to several holes opened up more birdie looks while keeping the course honest. A shortened tee pad on hole four, for instance, transformed what had been a landing-in-a-ditch par play into a genuine birdie opportunity.

Harvey Pennick played like Harvey Pennick always does: technical, punishing, and full of trees placed exactly where you don’t want them.

Lisa Fajkus joined Saarinen, Scoggins, and Mandujano on the round two feature card at Sprinkle Valley.

The Weather

Austin is famous for its wind. At the 2026 Barbasol Open, there was almost none of it.

Instead, the week brought heavy heat and oppressive humidity — temperatures touching 91 degrees Fahrenheit, wet hands, and an atmosphere the broadcast team compared to a Florida rainforest. Players and commentators alike were begging the Texas sky for a gust.

Those conditions had consequences in the final round. Saarinen — who had been the model of clean play all week — missed a short putt on hole 12, with the broadcast team pointing directly to slippery hands as a factor.

Highlights

Taylor Chocek produced the loudest moment of the tournament in round three at Harvey Pennick. On hole two — a 740-foot par five — Chocek reached the green in two shots and converted the eagle putt from inside the circle. The broadcast team said they had barely considered the hole as an eagle target in competition. Chocek had also been the hottest player in the field during round two, reaching eight-under through 15 holes — the best score at that point in the day.

Round three also brought an ace from Sofia Donnecke on hole 10 at Harvey Pennick, a 310-foot par three. The broadcast team called it a bucket-list ace — the kind you get to watch go in the whole way.

Kona Star Montgomery added an eagle on the par-five hole 11 during the same round, converting a 212-foot throw-in.

By the Numbers

Hole 11 at Harvey Pennick — a 930-foot par five — was among the week’s most punishing. In round three, 28 out-of-bounds strokes were recorded across 50 competitors, tying it for the most OB strokes on any hole that day. In round one at Sprinkle Valley, hole one — a par four through a triple mandatory — produced a single birdie. Hole two added only three. Neither was even among the five hardest holes of the day.

The planned 75-player cut after two rounds was shortened to 50 after severe weather threatened the final day.
